Literature Resources: Choosing Rigorous, Inspiring Books For Michigan’s K-12 Students

Meadowbrook Writing Project is a partnership between Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and local school districts. MBWP offers professional development opportunities for teachers and aims to improve student writing at all levels and in all subjects.

The 6+1 Trait Writing Framework is a powerful way to learn and use a common language to refer to characteristics of writing as well as create a common vision of what 'good' writing looks like. Teachers and students can use the 6+1 Trait model to pinpoint areas of strength and weakness as they continue to focus on improved writing. Additional sites that support this framework are the 6-Traits Resources Blog and the Writing Traits Resources from WritingFix.com.

National Writing Project is a professional development network that serves teachers of writing at all grade levels, primary through university, and in all subjects. Florida Center for Reading Research is an organization whose focus is on conducting basic research on reading, reading growth, reading assessment, and reading instruction that will contribute to the scientific knowledge of reading and benefit students throughout the nation.

Teachers can use the Problems of the Week to provide creative, non-routine challenges for students in grades 3-12 as well as search for great lesson plans and much more!
